"Choose an Answer to That"

"HOW ARE YOU?"

Well, How would you answer that??? Probably it would be "I'm fine, thanks."

But there are more ways than one to answer this question. Here they are:

positive

  • I'm good!

  • I'm very well!

  • I'm ok!

  • I'm fine!

  • I'm great!

  • I can't complain.

negative

Typically in Canadian English, when asked "How are you?" or "How are you doing?", if the response is negative, the responder doesn't use I. This is because the identity of the respondent is implied by the question. If you are giving a negative response because you are feeling sick, a slang response would be "I'm not feeling so hot". I have never heard someone say "I'm bad" in response to this question, that's more of a declaration of an intent to moonwalk.

  • I'm not good!

  • I've been better

  2. Hello Henrique

French is spoken mostly in the province of Quebec, although there are French speaking communities outside of Quebec and English speaking communities inside. In Calgary for instance most people speak English Some schools (known as French immersion) offer education in French, that is all of the classes are taught in French. As far as traditions and culture, Canada's culture is heavily influenced by american culture. As far as what we eat, Canadian cuisine is heavily influenced by european cooking, however with increasing immigration from China, Vietnam and India is introducing these cuisines to Canada as well.
As far as music goes English speaking Canada and the United States form a common market, so there are some artists from Canada who succeed in the US. Yes Rush is Canadian, and yes I have heard of them, my step-brother is far more of a Rush fan than I am though.
I am sorry that I took so long to reply to your comment.
